The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies hosted a special program presented by the USMC Returning Commander speaker series on Thursday, June 23. Col Mark Desens, commander of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Navy CAPT Pete Pagano, who led the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group, spoke about their recent nine-month deployment across Southwest Asia, the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Marine pilots involved in the dramatic rescue of a US Air Force F-15 pilot in Libya also spoke, and described the rescue in detail. Opening remarks were made by LtGen Keith Stalder, USMC (Ret.), Institute Senior Fellow, and closing remarks were by Gen Al Gray, 29th Commandant of the Marine Corps and Chairman of the Institute's Board of Regents.
