Senior Fellow and Director of the International Center for Terrorism Studies, Professor Yonah Alexander, recently spoke with WJLA, Washington DC, on an increasing amount of movie theaters checking customers bags. With an growing number of violent incidents in movie theaters across the country, this type of security procedure is becoming more common. "We have to learn from past experiences... there is no liberty without security, and we have to strike a balance between the civil liberties and security considerations."

Last month a man with a pellet gun, hatchet and pepper spray attacked guests in a theater in Tennessee, preceeded by an incident in Louisiana where an attacker fatally shot 2 people and wounded 9 others.
