Senior Vice President Jamie Barnett in The New York Times

Recent News

Senior Vice President of National Security Policy Jamie Barnett, Jr., RDML USNR (Ret.), recently served as Chief of the Federal Communications Commission's Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau.  In comments to The New York Times, he reacted to the ongoing struggle to implement a nationwide communications system for first responders.  Click here to read the article in full.

 

Janelle Gatchalian Lor Named Research Fellow

Recent News

The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies is pleased to announce that Janelle Gatchalian Lor has been promoted to the position of Research Fellow. Ms. Lor is currently assigned to the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory’s Wargaming Division, where she supports experimentation and combat development efforts. In addition to her role as Assistant Support Officer, she recently served as an analyst for the 2012 Naval Services Game, a Navy-Marine Corps wargame examining the challenges of naval force aggregation. Ms. Lor previously held the position of Research Associate at the Institute.

Regarding Ms. Lor's promotion, Mike Lowe, Director of the Institute's Center for Emerging Threats and Opportunities, commented, "As the Director of CETO, I have had the privilege of observing Janelle at work within the Institute for a number of years.  Throughout this time she has continued to demonstrate, improve and expand her overall analytical skills.  Simultaneously, her impressive leadership and management abilities have become increasingly evident.  We are thrilled to have an individual of Janelle's caliber on the team supporting the Marine Corps and I look forward to observing her most certain continued success as an Analyst with the Potomac Institute."

Senior Vice President of National Security Policy Jamie Barnett, Jr., RDML USNR (Ret.), is a retired Navy admiral and cyber security analyst, and former Chief of the Federal Communications Commission's Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau.  In comments to Federal Computer Week, he joined other experts in a year-end assessment of the top developments in cyber security for 2012.  Click here to read the article in full.

   

Senior Fellow David Kay on WTOP

Recent News

Senior Fellow Dr. David Kay is a weapons nonproliferation expert and former head of the Iraq Survey Group.  In comments to WTOP radio on the crisis in Syria, he explained how sarin gas could be deployed as a weapon.  Recent reports indicate that the Syrian regime might be planning a gas attack on opposition forces and civilians, but WTOP reports that some within Syria are skeptical.
