Mr. Charles K. (Ken) Curcio, Colonel, USMC (Ret.)

Ken Curcio serves as a Research Fellow at the Center for Emerging Threats and Opportunities (CETO), a think tank dedicated to identifying, examining, and determining solutions to emerging national security threats in support of Marine Corps operating forces. He has over 28 years of executive level management experience and has hands-on expertise in Program Management.

Mr. Curcio joined CETO after retiring from the Marne Corps in January 2002, having served his final active duty assignment as Deputy Program Manager, Extending the Littoral Battlespace Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration at the Office of Naval Research in Arlington, Va. Previously, he was the Program Manager for the Unmanned Ground Vehicles/Systems Joint Program Office at Redstone Arsenal, Ala., from 1997 to 1999.

From 1995 to 1997, Mr. Curcio served as Director, Marine Corps Ground Programs in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Research, Development and Acquisition. From July 1991 to July 1995, he was assigned as Assistant Program Manager, Anti-Armor Weapons at Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Va.

Prior to Systems Command, Mr. Curcio served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm as Executive Officer Battalion Landing Team ¼, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Previously, he was assigned as Operations Officer, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division after graduating from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Quantico, Va., in 1988.

From 1984 to 1987, he was assigned as Marine Officer Instructor in the NROTC program at The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Ga.

In 1982, Mr. Curcio took command of Company G, Battalion Landing Team 2/6, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit and served in Beirut, Lebanon as part of the Multinational Peacekeeping Force. Prior to that, he was assigned to 2nd Battalion 6th Marines 2nd Marine Division as Assistant Operations Officer after completing Amphibious Warfare School at Quantico, Va., in 1981.

Prior to that, Mr. Curcio was assigned to the Recruiting Station in Charleston, W.Va., where he became the Executive Officer. Previously, he was a Recon Platoon Commander in 1st Marine Division and a Rifle Platoon Commander with 1st Battalion 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division on Okinawa where he participated in Operation Frequent Wind, the evacuation of South Vietnam. Mr. Curcio was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps in November 1973.

Mr. Curcio graduated from Cedarville University, Cedarville, Ohio with a bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1970. He also earned a Masters of Business Administration from Mercer University, Atlanta, Georgia in 1986.
