Mr. Jeffrey F. Hemler, Colonel, USMC (Ret.), Research Fellow

Mr. Jeffrey Hemler joined the Center for Emerging Threats and Opportunities (CETO) as a Research Fellow in December 2004.

Mr. Hemler has over thirty-three years of military leadership and senior executive management experience in numerous operational and management positions. Upon retirement from the United States Marine Corps after thirty years of commissioned service in July 2001, he accepted a program management position with Raytheon Corporation. During his tenure with Raytheon he was a Program Manager supporting the United States Navy and Marine Corps in conjunction with the Navy Marine Corps Intranet Program. He also supported the Transportation Security Administration through the Information Technology Managed Services Program. His primary area of focus and expertise in both of these endeavors was information technology security.

Throughout his thirty years of active duty commissioned service he commanded Marines at every level of command from platoon to group. His final command assignment was from 1995-1997 when he commanded the First Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Intelligence Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force. His final assignment in the United States Marine Corps was on the staff of the deputy Commandant for Command, Control, Communications and Computers where he served as the Head of the Integration and Resources Divisions.

Mr. Hemler’s education includes a bachelor’s degree in Analytical Management from the United States Naval Academy and master’s degrees in National Security Affairs from the United States Naval War College and Business Management from Salve Regina College.
