The Bombing of the USS Cole - How Did We Get There? Wednesday, November 15, 2000 Featured Speaker: Honorable James H. Webb, Jr. Mr. Webb discussed the current readiness, force structure, and strategy of the Naval service. He also spoke of the role of US military forces in today's strategic environment, the impending Quadrennial Defense Review, as well as his current projects and interests. Mr. Webb is a former Secretary of the Navy, recipient of the Navy Cross and two Purple Hearts, and author of numerous best-selling novels. He is a 1968 graduate of the US Naval Academy, and in 1975 received his Juris Doctorate from the Georgetown Law Center. Today, Mr. Webb works as a consultant, screenwriter, producer, and journalist.
