Senior Vice President of Academic Programs and Research Jamie Barnett, Jr., RDML USNR (Ret.), says his most recent tenure as Chief of the Federal Communications Commission's Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau was excellent preparation for his new role as head of the Institute's academic efforts.  RDML Barnett notes that some of the most successful efforts he spearheaded at the FCC involved bringing together diverse groups of experts to inform policymaking decisions - the same model the Institute employs in its role as a facilitator of the exchange of ideas.  RDML Barnett, who previously served as a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute, will oversee research efforts in cyber security, neurotechnology, counterterrorism studies, and other disciplines.
