Dr. Tawfik Hamid is the Chair for the Study of Islamic Radicalism at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies and the author of the book Inside Jihad.  As a young man, he briefly joined the radical group Jamaa Islamiya before turning against militancy and terrorism.  In comments to the Scripps Howard wire service, he commented on the possibility that Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden's second in command, could succeed him as Al Qaeda's leader.  Dr. Hamid predicted that a public message from al-Zawahiri could be forthcoming within weeks.  Click here to read the article in full.
