Dr. Yonah Alexander, the Director of the International Center for Terrorism Studies at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, was interviewed by The Straits Times about ISIS’s threat to attack the United States. Following the terrorist attacks in Paris, ISIS released a video threatening that an attack on Washington, D.C. was coming. "There is no question about their intentions and capabilities... the reach of the group is not regional but global, which means it can attack anywhere from Singapore to San Francisco," Dr. Alexander points out. While he mentioned that the ISIS already has terrorist cells in the US plus and there is also the threat of copycat or lone wolf attacks, we can reduce risks with “increased enforcement activities and improved intelligence sharing…" Finally, he suggests that civil society must be brought into the fight against ISIS, so that they will have to fight on many fronts.
