Security Strategies 1On 18 October 2018, the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies' Vital Infrastructure, Technology, and Logistics Center published its report entitled "Security Strategies for Global Supply Chains." It did so with the intention of providing a comprehensive summary of all events hosted by the VITAL Center since its inception in the Fall of 2017. This report summarizes findings and conclusions drawn from events over the course of the past year and makes high-level recommendations for how to the US government and US industry can work together to improve the security of our nation's supply chains and critical infrastructures. Speakers at these events contributed insights from a broad range of backgrounds in both government and industry, providing a diverse and comprehensive set of lessons learned.

The report adds to a growing conversation on the importance of prioritizing supply chain security in defense acquisitions specifically, in addition to the prioritization of securing critical infrastructures, designated across 16 sectors: Chemical, Commercial Facilities, Communications, Critical Manufacturing, Dams, Defense industrial base, Emergency Services, Energy, Financial, Food and Agriculture, Government, Healthcare and Public Health, Information Technology, Nuclear Reactors, Material , and Waste, Transportation, and Water. In a broader sense, these conversations seek to bring into focus the changing and widespread nature of threats to US supply chains and critical infrastructures, both inside and outside of the defense community

Events hosted by the VITAL Center seek to bring together a community of stakeholders in supply chain risk management across critical infrastructure sectors. Discussions in these forums try to get a sense of current and anticipated future challenges to the security of our nation's critical infrastructures and determine best and innovative practices for supply chain risk management from industry case studies. Please stay tuned for more VITAL events to be hosted in the coming year.
