Terrorism Threats: The Next Phase?

1 November, 2001

The 21st century has seen the world exposed to threats from new and unprecedented forms of terrorism.  As technology has advanced so, too, has the terrorist's arsenal of weapons.  On Monday, November 5, 2001, Professor Yonah Alexander and a team of experts will discuss these threats - ranging from Super-terrorism (biological, chemical, and nuclear) to Cyber-terrorism, and introduce four new volumes on terrorism studies.  A question and answer session will follow, during which review copies of the studies will be available to the media.

Professor Alexander is the director for the International Center for Terrorism Studies (ICTS) of the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies.  He has published more than 80 books on terrorism and international studies, including the best-selling Usama bin Laden's al-Qaida: Portrait of a Terrorist Network.  He will be joined by his co-authors and co-editors: Michael S. Swetnam (CEO, Potomac Institute for Policy Studies), Dr. Milton Hoenig, and Prof. Edgar H. Brenner.

Cyber Terrorism examines the electronic exploitation of both civilian and military systems and focuses on government and non-government responses.

Usama bin Laden's al-Qaida: Portrait of a Terrorist Network provides an in-depth, updated perspective on one of the international community's greatest threats in the 21st century.

Terrorism and the Law focuses on the broad range of legal issues relating to terrorism, such as human rights, ethnic/racial conflicts, and the merit and legitimacy of various legal responses to terrorism.
