Assistant Secretary Paul McHale to Speak at the Potomac Institute

Arlington, VA – On July 27, 2004, the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies will host the next Executive Luncheon Seminar, part of the larger Executive Luncheon Seminar Series sponsored by the CIVITAS Group. Tuesday’s speaker will be the Honorable Paul McHale, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense. He will speak on defense and homeland security.

Responsible for the supervision of all homeland defense activities at the Department of Defense, Mr. McHale frequently lectures on government, law, and military policy. A former marine, he earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. He was a member of Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives, but resigned in 1991 in order to volunteer for active duty as an infantry officer with the Marine Corps during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. In 1993 Mr. McHale was elected as a Representative for Pennsylvania in the United States’ House of Representatives. He retired from that position in 1999 and became a shareholder in a law firm. Mr. McHale assumed his current position in 2003.

This year’s Executive Luncheon Series has already hosted Dr. David Kay and Dr. Rita Colwell.
