Joins The Potomac Institute’s Board of Regents The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Rita R. Colwell, former Director of the National Science Foundation, to its Board of Regents. The Potomac Institute believes that Colwell’s experience in the academic and government sector will help the Institute to further its goal of providing nonpartisan analysis of science and technology policy. Dr. Colwell is Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park, and the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is also Chairman and Senior Vice President of Canon US Life Sciences, Inc., a subsidiary of Canon, Inc. focused on medical instrumentation. Dr. Colwell served as Director of the National Science Foundation from August 1998 to February 2004 and, Founding President of the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute between 1988 and 1998.
