PICC Director Amb. David Smith Comments to AOL Defense

Potomac Institute for Policy Studies Senior Fellow Amb. David Smith (Ret.) is the Director of the Potomac Institute Cyber Center.  He is a cyber security and cyber policy analyst, and a former US arms negotiator.  As Director of the PICC, Amb. Smith organized a special panel discussion on Fundamentals of Chinese Information Warfare and Impacts on the Western World on May 11, which was widely attended by representatives of government and private sector entities engaged in cyber security.  In an article on the AOL Defense website he commented about the perceived Chinese threat to cyber infrastructure.  Click here to read the article in full.

The Potomac Institute Cyber Center hosted a special program on Fundamentals of Chinese Information Warfare and Impacts on the Western World on Friday, May 11, 2012. The guest speakers included William T. Hagestad II, author of the new book 21st Century Chinese Cyberwarfare (IT Governance, 2012).  Click below to watch a video of the event.

Lt. Gen. Donald C. Wurster, USAF (Ret.), Is Named Senior Fellow and Member, Board of Regents

Recent News

The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies is pleased to announce that Lt. Gen. Donald C. Wurster, USAF (Ret.) has been named a Senior Fellow and Member of the Board of Regents.  Lt. Gen. Wurster retired in August, 2011 from his post as Commander, Air Force Special Operations Command, Hurlburt Field, Florida.

Institute Chairman and CEO Michael Swetnam welcomed Lt. Gen. Wurster's appointment, commenting, "Lt. Gen. Wurster is one of the finest senior officers to serve this country during the past decade of conflict. His vast knowledge and experience will be a tremendous asset for the Institute. The Board of Director and I take great pleasure in announcing his election to our Board of Regents."

Academic Fellow Ben Sheppard on FOX-5 News

Recent News

Academic Fellow Ben Sheppard, PhD, is a counterterrorism expert and analyst, and the author of the book The Psychology of Strategic Terrorism. In an interview on Washington, DC's FOX-5 News, he reacted to the latest findings about a foiled al-Qa'ida plot to bomb a US-bound airliner. Dr. Sheppard notes that the unraveling of the plot has given US authorities a valuable opportunity to study a captured example of the terrorist group's bomb-making handiwork.
