The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies is seeking a highly qualified technical expert in microelectronics design and manufacturing to work on science and technology policy issues. 

The selected candidate is expected to read and assess technical literature, write technical material for a non-technical audience and provide policy recommendations based on thoughtful analysis of science and technology. As a part of our team, the candidate should possess the ability to research related topics, synthesize information, and create consolidated material to present to the team and customers. Major efforts include identifying trends in science and technology, conducting operational and technical analyses, and translating technical material into recommendations for national security customers. Candidates will develop strategy and organizational planning for government customers. This position requires technical and policy reading, lots of writing, and deep thinking about the impact of developments in science and technology on policy and national security issues. 

The Potomac Institute is building a portfolio of work in microelectronics strategy and planning, hardware security issues, and models for government acquisition of trusted and assured components. The ideal candidate has deep experience and expertise in microelectronics design and manufacturing, research, low and high volume fabrication models, custom design and fabrication, and industry and research lab business models.   

The selected candidate will be working in a creative, fast-paced environment. The position requires interacting with scientists and political scientists alike, from various technical and non-technical backgrounds, from junior to very senior levels. The position involves team-oriented execution of time-dependent projects and research. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, must be organized in data collection and research, and be able to communicate effectively in meetings, presentations and written material. Performs other duties as required and assigned.

Requirements:

o   Technical PhD with minimum 5 years experience.

o   Works well in teams and individually on projects, papers, and products.

o   Proficiency in MS office products

o   High level of initiative, independence, and ability to work unsupervised.

o   Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

o   Ability to effectively interact with an interdisciplinary team.
