The Potomac Institute Press is pleased to announce the forthcoming release of the new book Al-Qa'ida: Ten Years After 9/11 and Beyond, (Potomac Institute Press, 2012) by Institute Chairman and CEO Michael Swetnam and ICTS Director Prof. Yonah Alexander, PhD. The authors previously collaborated on a 2001 landmark book on al-Qa'ida entitled Usama bin Laden's al-Qa'ida: Profile of a Terrorist Network (click here to access the Amazon.com listing). Their follow-up book, Al-Qa'ida: Ten Years After 9/11 and Beyond, will be available in an early-release version at the February 2 ICTS event at the National Press Club (see event listing, below) and soon on Amazon.com. Prof. Williamson Murray, PhD, is the Director of the Institute's History, Social and Strategic Ideas Program. Prof. Murray is a distinguished historian with special expertise in military history. He will be featured in the September 20 episode of PBS's History Detectives, focusing on World War II. In the Summer 2011 issue of the Potomac Institute's quarterly newsletter, Focus, Prof. Murray discusses his latest book, The Shaping of Grand Strategy: Policy, Diplomacy and War (Cambridge University Press, 2011). Prof. James Giordano, PhD, is the Director of the Institute's Center for Neurotechnology Studies as well as Vice President for Academic Programs. His most recent podcast for the Bioethics Channel is entitled From a Neuroscience of Pain to a Neuroethics of Care. In it, Prof. Giordano discusses ways in which recent discoveries about the nervous system are helping us understand the experience of pain, which could lead to breakthroughs in treatment.
