The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies Fall 2013 features a cover story on the convergence of criminal activity in the local arena and the impact internationally and on national security.  Other stories include:  "Climate Change and Human Health," a review of environment and security issues; a listing of recent ICTS reports; The Potomac Institute's Cyber Center "Stuxnet" discussion; "Effects of Climate Change in the Pacific," environmental and security implications; The Minerva Initiative, applying science to culture and politics; Kearsarge ARG and 26th MEU deployment overview; and an overview of PIPS Press books and reports.

 

The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies Spring 2013 newsletter features a cover story on the first volume of a biography on Gen. Al Gray, 29th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps and the current Chairman of the Board of Regents at the Institute.  The issue includes other stories, including new members of our Board of Regents, a story on the first CReST Bold Ideas seminar with noted author David Brin, an opinion piece on BRAIN Mapping written by the CReST team, an overview of the ICTS events on Refugeeism Challenges and Combatting Hizballah's Global Network, featured news stories that featured Institute experts, and a story focusing on the Marine Coprs reset as they rebalance toward the Pacific.

 

The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies Summer 2013 newsletter features a cover story on the challenges of using intelligence to address terrorism threats.  Other stories in this issue include:  announcement of new CReST fellows, a summary of the PIPS/ICTS event "The Power of Sufism," an overview of the Potomac Institute's Cyber Center "Cyber Scenarios 2023," an opinion by CReST titled "Civil Liberties Under Attack," coverage of a $25,000 donation from PIPS to the Semper Fi Fund (representing book sales of "Al Gray, Marine"), a summary of the USMC Returning Command Speaker Series featuring the commanders of the Peleliue Amphibious Ready Group and the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, highlights of a U.S.-Azerbaijan Strategic Dialogue, and an overview of PIPS experts in the news.

The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies Winter 2013 newsletter features a cover story on the release of "#CyberDoc: No Borders -- No Boundaries," which was launched at the National Press Club Dec. 4.  A call to action, the book calls on national leaders to articulate a doctrine that will help put an end to the scattershot approach that has evolved in the absence of real guidance in the cyber realm.  This issue also includes coverage of a Diplomatic Security panel, the launch of a the "Terrorism: An Electronic Journal and Knowledge Base (www.terrorismelectronicjournal.org), a program titled "Addressing the Supply Chain Threat" regarding cyber hacking, and more.
